Similar to common milkweed but smaller in size, Sullivant's Milkweed is an indicator of a high quality prairie. In the home garden, it is a clump-forming milkweed with a somewhat open habit. A few umbels of pink flowers form at stem tips in summer. Flowers are fragrant and a primary food source for butterflies. Host plant for the monarch butterfly.
